Whitesand Mirage Wins Two in a Row |
|
May 26, 2007 - Whitesand Mirage made it two for two for the stable after being claimed on May 11th at the Meadowlands for $20,000. With usual pilot Yannick Gingras in the sulky, he floated Whitesand Mirage out from post five to secure position fourth on the rail. Before the quarter, Gingras moved him to the outside and grabbed the lead after a first quarter in 27:0. With no challengers he ran off a second quarter in 28:1 and third quarter in 28:3. As a Southwind Apex came within a length of the lead when callenging on the outside, Gingras asked Whitesand for a little more and he responded by opening up three lengths in the stretch. Other horses were coming after him, but he was in hand coming home in 27:2 and grabbed another win in a lifetime best of 1:50:3. The six year old son of Life Sign took down a purse of $11,250. The 1:50:3 final time went into the stable recordbooks as the fastest timed race on a mile track.
