Lucky Crown Sweeps by the Field at Yonkers

April 26, 2007 - Lucky Crown, the newest addition to the stable, made his way to the winner's circle tonight after a break-in-stride the previous week.  The victory came in a $20,000 optional claiming trot for a purse of $15,000 with Jeff Gregory holding the reins.

Leaving from post seven, Gregory floated Luck Crown away which left him sitting seventh on the rail.  Up front, Fifty Two Finn was up on the outside challenging and overtaking Notorious Buck at the 1/4 in 29:3.  As soon as that battle ended, CR Southern Peach attempted to grab the lead, but Greg Grismore and Fifty Two Finn was not going to have any part of it and kept that one on the outside.  As they passed the half in 59:1, Lucky Crown was still sitting seventh watching the events unfolding.  The outer tier then formed behind CR Southern Peach and Gregory shortly thereafter had Lucky join the outer flow as they passed three-quarters in 1:28:4.  Gregory sent Lucky two-wide and quickly three-wide sweeping through the field on the far outside.  At the top of the stretch Fifty Two Finn was still on the front end - dismissing CR Southern Peach but Lucky was coming with power on the outside.  He wore down that one in mid-stretch and held off Travelin Preacher to score at 16-1.

The six year old gelded son of Meadow Crown took down a purse of $7,500 and is averaging $3,500 per start for the stable.  This was also Jeffrey S. Smith's first win for PaceToPlaceStable.com after two previous tries.
